According to the Managing Director of the Nigerian Port Authority (NPA), Chief Adebayo Sarumi, equal opportunities would be given to all workers including those who test HIV positive. The authority declared whole flagging of its AIDS awareness campaign among its staff recently. The awareness according to Sarumi is to respond to realities that the ports are vulnerable to the spread of the disease because of its status as a hub of business attracting all kinds of personalities.

The NPA boss assured that any of their staff that test positive would not be discriminated against but rather would receive equal treatment and opportunity from the management.
